David’s Desk, Volume XXVI

"That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God. Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long suffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light."

Colossians 1:10-12

I can’t believe that it has been 30 years since God first called me to sing his praises. When I first trusted Christ as a young boy, and up till now, God has remained my source of strength through every trial. These past 30 years, from my early beginning singing with Special Way, to being called to solo music ministry, God has always been there for me. These years have brought many trials, many failures, many blessings and tears. From prison ministry to concert audiences, It has been joy to my heart to be an inspiration to others through the gift which God has given me.

In Pauls epistle to the Colossians, he reminds us that we should walk pleasingly before God, doing every good work, while increasing in the knowledge of God. This should be each of our prayers every day as we submit ourselves to living a life pleasing to the Lord. God has made us partakers of a great inheritance. We are called to walk in the light of Christ. When we fall, which all of us will, then we must pick ourselves back up, brush ourselves off and ask God for His forgiveness. God promises us that he will Strengthen us with His glorious power. Oh why does God love us so? All my life I have wondered why God loves me with such a love. Over the years God has given me a special desire to reach out to those who are in prisons. It has been my deepest joy, my richest blessing, to visit so many of the State prisons. Many men have come to Christ and I have enjoyed the fellowship and have made many new friends. The letters I have received from inmates over the years are a testament to the grace of God and I am honored to have been a small part of God’s plan.

What a blessing it was to sing at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Stuart. Hearts were touched and people were blessed. Thanks to my manager Judy Bowen for making that concert happen.

Everyone knows the famous American Idol television program, but what a joy it was for me to be a judge and to sing at Gospel Idol, at the Palm Beach County Civic Center. So many gifted singers and praise dancers competed.

I have been blessed by many friendships over the years, but one very special friendship is that of Daniel James. An anointed worship leader, I was excited to attend his performance at the House of Blues in Orlando. Daniel’s music has been a real inspiration to me.

As we await the glorious appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, may we press on and do His will, seek His face, and be a blessing to others. May each of us be reminded of His future Kingdom and strive to fulfill the great commission. Thank all of you for supporting my music over these 30 years. May God bless and keep you.
